Our Principal Investigators

Sarah D. Atkinson, MD

Dr. Sarah Atkinson is the Director and Principal Investigator at FLCR. She has focused on clinical research since 1987, and has conducted close to one-hundred clinical trials, principally in adult and pediatric central nervous system disorders, including: major depression, ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and anxiety, among others.

Dr. Atkinson is a Board Certified psychiatrist and an elected member of The American College of Psychiatrists. She is certified in both adult and child psychiatry, and is widely published in her field, including co-authorship of two standard reference works.

Dr. Atkinson received her education at Tulane (BS, mathematics), Princeton (MS, mathematics) and The University of Oklahoma (MD). She completed her residency at the University of Oklahoma, and a Child Fellowship at the Menninger Clinic.

Peter M. G. Deane, MD

Peter M. G. Deane, MD, a long-established area research physician, has joined Finger Lakes Clinical Research/ERG as a primary investigator. The expanding practice focuses on adult and pediatric clinical trials in psychiatric disorders, allergies, immunology and rheumatology. Dr. Deane joins Sarah D. Atkinson, MD, founder of the practice.

Dr. Deane has received numerous academic honors. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Deane and his wife, Kate, are residents of Rochester.
